Three things to nail down first.
- Winery days and hours. Many estates close on Sundays and visit by appointment only — confirm opening days and book the marquee names well ahead.
- Your travel season. Harvest (Feb–Mar) is glorious but busy; winter is quiet with some closures. Check what's open for each leg before you lock dates.
- Whether you need a guide. Tastings plus driving don't mix — decide early if you want a driver or guided tour for the wine days, especially in Mendoza and on the Salta–Cafayate road.
